Fees/Insurance

No way to get around it. Therapy is a financial investment.

I know it is a hard pill to swallow to spend money on yourself, especially if you are always putting yourself last. What about you think about you for once? Trust me, you are going to be a much better person to be around, a better partner, student, friend, ect., to those around you if you take some time to focus on you.

Better you = better for others = better for your circle = better for the community = better world. So really you are changing the world. Like what I did there.

I take on a limited caseload as I prioritize quality over quantity. Most of the time, the hour I spend in session with you, I spend another hour researching and preparing for our session.

You are paying for progress and symptom relief and I work hard to help you get the results you want.

Plus I have systems in place to make the whole experience of therapy a bit easier. I can’t promise the work itself will be easy (In fact it won’t. Sorry. Not Sorry.) But it shouldn’t be so darn hard to set up a therapy appointment.

My systems include:

  • Secure Client Portal
  • Online Scheduling
  • Secure Messaging
  • Automatic Appointment Reminders
  • Assessments to Monitor your Progress
  • Coordination of Care with Other Care Providers

Since all sessions are done online, I obtain my fees through a secure online system. At the beginning of our work together, I will get a credit card to store on file and be charged after each completed session or any cancellation fees. After charged, I will send you an invoice for your records.

Fees for Counseling

Recurring Appointments

50 minute session …….. $200

80 minute session*……….$250

*I offer 80 minute sessions typically for EMDR sessions as it can be helpful to have a longer session time. This being said I am open to scheduling a longer appointment time if available. Let me know if you are interested in this option.

First session:

Intake session (75 – 90 minutes) ………….. $250

I take on a limited caseload as I prioritize quality over quantity. Most of the time, the hour I spend in session with you, I spend another hour researching and preparing for our session. You are paying for progress and symptom relief and I work hard to help you get the results you want.

Cancellation Policy

I respectfully ask that cancellations be made 24 hours prior to your appointment. If an appointment is cancelled in less than 24 hours, you are responsible for the full session fee.

Using Out of Network Benefits

If you would like to use your insurance, I am considered an out of network provider. This means if your insurance covers mental health benefits (call the number on the back of your card to verify) then I can provide you with a special receipt (superbill) after our completed sessions in which you pay me directly. Then you turn in the receipt to your insurance and they will reimburse you directly. More than likely it won’t cover my full fee but it all depends on your coverage.

Insurance

One of my most asked questions is why I don’t take insurance.

Whitney Goodman, LMFT, explains it best with the infographic below. Many of the reasons I do not take insurance are listed below.
